Chelsea are set to make a £8.5 million profit as Patrick Bamford moves closer to securing a permanent switch to Middlsebrough in a deal which could be worth up to £10 million, according to various reports.
The 23-year-old has endured a stuttering career to date, with failed loan spells at Norwich, Crystal Palace and most recently Burnley, who agreed to cut the temporary deal short ahead of the proposed switch to the Riverside.
Bamford enjoyed a more successful spell at Boro during the 2014-15 season, scoring 17 goals in 38 Championship outings.
Despite joining Chelsea for £1.5 million from Nottingham Forest in 2012, Bamford is yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Stamford Bridge club.
