Ashley Young picks Man Utd five-a-side team

The 30-year-old has picked himself to play alongside Daley Blind, Michael Carrick, Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney although there's no goalkeeper to be seen!

The 30-year-old, who recently signed a new three-year deal at Old Trafford, picked players from the current squad whom he would select to join him in a training match scenario.

Blind gets the nod in defence, with the likes of domestic and international team-mates Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw missing out, while David de Gea, along with the other goalkeepers in the squad, is also absent.

United captain Rooney and vice-captain Carrick make up the English contingent, with Mata and the versatile Blind supplying the foreign flair. "I need a defender in there... I'll put Daley back there," he told the club's official website.

"It's tough, can I do a bench as well?! OK, I'd also include Carras, Wazza and Juan."

He added: "The small-sided games because there is a fun element to them and there's also the competitive angle where you want to impress and get in the team.

"Everything we do in training when it has a competitive element makes it feel like game day. Everyone wants to win and people get upset when they don't!

"If you have that in training then you take it out onto the pitch on matchday."
