Thinking of text my ex-girlfriend

I have been thinking a lot about my ex the past couple days. People are starting to notice something is on my mind because I don't reply to text messages as quickly any more. I feel like sending her a text asking how she is or just catch up with her. We broke up on good terms. She said we could be friends but ended up deleted me off everything. Then told me she went her own way. I understand that she may have moved on, however; once I am over her would it be ok to send her a text?. We can't get back into any relationship but I'd like to remain a friend. Any advice?
