President Muhammudu Buhari has restated his desire to
crush all Boko Haram insurgents following the group’s attacks on Borno
and Yobe communities over the last week.
Buhari
said his hunger to destroy the group has not been extinguished saying
he will use all resources available to the government to kill the
insurgents to the last man.
He said: “They are cowards who lack any moral inhibition and any iota of humanity to reason compassionately.” The president said the country or anywhere in the world would not be safe for them because, “they would be hunted down without mercy and compromise.”
Buhari was speaking through a statement issued by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
The president sympathized with the families of the victims and reassured all Nigerians of his wish to crush the insurgents.
The statement reads: “My government would never tolerate the terrorists’ blackmail, and our security forces would confront the Boko Haram bandits to the last man.

“Make no mistake about it: this government is ever determined to discharge its fundamental duty of protecting the life of its citizens from physical threats from any groups bent on creating chaos, confusion, and on destroying social and economic life of the people.”
The president slamed the terrorists for attacking during the Ramadan period adding that the terrorists were enemies of humanity worldwide.
“No sane people who believes in any god would be destroying the lives of innocent people in cold blood,” he said, adding that terrorists do not represent any religion.
“The president said the pattern of their indiscriminate violence against innocent people shows that they represent nothing else but anarchy and devilry.
“The terrorists are enemies of religion and humanity. No true believers in any God would target worshipers, holy places, or people who are fasting and other innocent Nigerians,” The statement read.
Like previous warnings by the military and other bodies, Buhari urged residents of the country to be vigilant and report any person acting suspiciously.
Last week it was learnt that a young girl strapped with explosives and sent to a crowded mosque, made a detour and running away to kill only herself.
This recent act of bravery by the young girl has added fuel to the belief that Boko Haram are using unwilling captives in its terror campaign in northeast Nigeria.
