Dangote, others should emulate Ubah – Akinbobola 0

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has been told to demonstrate his passion for football from the domestic scene by floating a Nigerian version of Arsenal club.
Board member of the League Management Company (LMC) and Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency, Hon. Akin Akinbobola, who gave the advice, said the business mogul has the capacity to dominate African football in the nearest future if he truly desires to invest in the round leather game.
“In the past we had BBC Lions of Gboko, a club that made waves both in Nigeria and in the African continent. Interestingly, we now have an Alhaji Aliko Dangote who is interested in buying Arsenal Football Club of England. But I would rather he develops an Arsenal Football Club here in Nigeria, and I can assure you that he would dominate African football in no time,” Akinbobola predicted.
“I like what Ifeanyi Ubah is doing, and I wish other well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organizations emulate him,” he added.
The ODSFA boss and board member of the LMC, however, admitted that the domestic league needed to be developed to encourage Dangote see it as a viable investment to float his own Arsenal here and dominate African football.
“Time was when NNPC had football clubs here and there. Today, NNPC remains one of the richest establishments in the country, yet it cannot float a football club, basketball club or athletics club. We have left the important aspect of man power development of the youths to engage in acquiring unnecessary wealth. However, we need to develop our domestic league in such a way that somebody like Dangote would see it a viable investment,” Akinbobola posited.
