The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) as well as other organisations against rejecting corps members posted for primary assignment.
This is contained in a statement issued by the NYSC’s Director of Press, Mrs Bose Aderibigbe, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement said corps members were posted based on their disciplines and within the limits imposed by the current NYSC posting policy.
It said their rejection by organisations had always resulted in some of them roaming the streets in search of places of service.
The statement said that such practice was at variance with the ideals of the founding fathers of the scheme and should therefore be discouraged by all well-meaning Nigerians.
It said that employers should take cognisance of corps members’ willingness to answer the clarion call to participate in the national service out of patriotism.
It added that they had always looked forward to render services for the progress of their fatherland.
According to the statement, all stakeholders including employers are requested to always give all corps members the necessary support by accepting them whenever posted for primary assignment. (NAN)
